Hey people!
How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good with the exception that the weather was quite funny and unpredictable! But anyhow!
You know i love DIY’s and my latest has been making jewelery out of…well basically nothing! Inspired by Irene Paleologou’s amazing work i decided to use a soda can and make my own medallion necklace!
I am going to share with you the steps!

1.You will need a soda can, a pair of good and sharp scissors, PVA glue, a glue gun, old newspaper’s, an image that you like and a chain.

2.Very carefully (may be wear gloves) cut around the bottom or the top of the soda can trying not to have any rough ages. In the meanwhile in a bowl pour some water and bits f newspaper with PVA glue and mix them up.

3.Use the glue gun and put some silicone around the ages of the bottom of the can so that all the tough bits are covered with silicone. In that way you will have a nice effect around the edges and you will avoid all the hassle of having to file the edges.

4.Once the silicone dries, it will roughly take 5 minutes) you can add the wet newspaper in the gap of the bottom of the can. It should look something like that.

While i left it to dry a bit and soak most of the water, i left my glue gun on the top of a magazine and this very interesting bits and bobs emerged!

5.Once the newspaper’s have dried a bit then take your favorite image and place it in the middle of the medallion, adding a layer of PVA glue on the top. At the beginning it will appear wrinkled and white but fear not! Cause that is the effect of the PVA glue and once it is dried it will become transparent!

I have chosen an image of the twitter bird that i found on the internet and i liked!

I have wore it many times, always getting positive comments and people asking me where did i get it! Big silly smile on my face when i reply that i made it!
