Μια πόλη, η πόλη σου μπορεί να γίνει σκληρή και ψυχρή. Οι άνθρωποι της σε προσπερνούν χωρίς να σε κοιτάζουν, χωρίς να χαμογελάνε. Είναι σαν να μην υπάρχεις για αυτούς.

This is how I feel sometimes living in Athens. That I am almost invisible and I do not mean that in a positive way. It feels that I have lost touch with my own city. You are probably wondering how can I be saying that when so many things are happening in Athens lately./
Έτσι αισθάνομαι μερικές φορές στην Αθήνα. Ότι είμαι σχεδόν αόρατη και δεν το εννοώ θετικά. Είναι σαν να έχω χάσει την επαφή με την ίδια την πόλη που μεγάλωσα. Μάλλον θα αναρωτιέστε πως μπορεί να λέω κάτι τέτοιο ενώ συμβαίνουν τόσα πράγματα στην Αθήνα το τελευταίο διάστημα.

However some other times, when I am walking in the centre of Athens, the sun is shinning or it is raining, when I am listening to my favorite music, when someone smiles or may be just when I am in a good mood, this city seems like the best place to be at the moment. Feels like home./
Κάποιες άλλες φορές όμως, όταν περπατάω στο κέντρο, ο ήλιος φωτίζει τα πάντα ή βρέχει, όταν ακούω την αγαπημένη μουσική, όταν κάποιος χαμογελάει ή απλά όταν έχω καλή διάθεση, αυτή η πόλη φαίνεται να μοιάζει σαν το καλύτερο μέρος να ζεις. Είναι σαν να είσαι σπίτι.

I am not in my own little world when I am saying the above about Athens. I am well aware of the difficulties living in Athens, living in Greece, because I have been affected by the current situation and developments and I know people that their lives have changed drastically because of them./
Δεν ζω στον δικό μου μικρόκοσμο όταν λέω τα παραπάνω για την Αθήνα. Γνωρίζω πολύ καλά τις δυσκολίες του να ζεις στην Αθήνα, του να ζεις στην Ελλάδα, γιατί η ζωή μου έχει επηρεαστεί από την παρούσα κατάσταση και τις εξελίξεις και γνωρίζω ανθρώπους που η ζωή τους έχει αλλάξει δραστικά εξαιτίας αυτών των εξελίξεων.

I do believe though (in the spirit of seeing the positive side of things) that a city is what you make of it. What I mean is that if we all tried to make the place that we are living a bit better then it would be better!/
Πιστεύω πάντως (στο πνεύμα του να βλέπω τα πράγματα από την θετική πλευρά τους) πως μια πόλη είναι ότι την κάνεις εσύ. Αυτό που εννοώ είναι πως αν όλοι προσπαθούσαμε να κάνουμε το μέρος που ζούμε καλύτερο τότε θα ήταν…καλύτερο!

High hopes? May be. Delusional? May be. Does it matter? Not really. Why? Because all of us use whatever we have to get through the day. I use smiles, hope and some time fists (mental ones). Not every day but when I can, it helps./
Μεγάλες ελπίδες; Μπορεί. Εκτός πραγματικότητας; Μπορεί. Έχει καμία σημασία; Όχι. Γιατί; Γιατί όλοι μας χρησιμοποιούμε ότι μπορούμε για να επιβιώσουμε στην καθημερινότητα. Εγώ χρησιμοποιώ χαμόγελα, ελπίδα και γροθιές (νοητικές όχι αληθινές). Δεν το κάνω κάθε μέρα αλλά όποτε μπορώ, βοηθάει.

I do not like very thick clothes but I need to keep warm in the winter so what I usually do is wear multiple layers. So this is a post about my new cardigan/jacket from Blanco that I have worn so far in two different ways/styles but both of them involved layering. Before I continue with the post let me just say that I consider the master of layering, The Man Repeller. Leandra’s outfit vary from being an amazing source of inspiration to actually being repelling, and that is what I love about her blog. /

Ο τίτλος αυτού του ποστ μπορεί να μην βγάζει κανένα νόημα αλλά οι πολλές στρώσεις ρούχων η μια πάνω από την άλλη είναι ένα από τα αγαπημένα μου πράγματα. Δεν μου αρέσουν καθόλου τα πολύ χοντρά ρούχα αλλά κάπως πρέπει να είμαι ζεστά το χειμώνα και αυτό το καταφέρνω φορώντας στρώματα από ρούχα. Αυτό λοιπόν είναι ένα ποστ 2 σε 1. Αφορά στην καινούργια μου ζακέτα-μαντό από τα Blanco που μέχρι τώρα το έχω φορέσει με 2 διαφορετικούς τρόπους, όπου και οι 2 έχουν να κάνουν με πολλές στρώσεις ρούχων. Πριν συνεχίσω να πω απλά πως η βασίλισσα των στρώσεων ρούχων είναι The Man Repeller. Οι συνδυασμοί της Λεάνδρας κυμαίνονται από το να σου προκαλούν έμπνευση μέχρι και απέχθεια, που αυτός είναι και ο λόγος που μου αρέσει τόσο πολύ το μπλογκ της.

My solution at times like this is to actually act like one. What do I mean? Think positive, feel like anything is possible and smile. The thing is that even super heroes are actually humans…with weakness and emotions. So if you think about it the only thing that you have to do is discover the super hero in you! I am pretty sure that he is sleeping somewhere inside you and waits for that wake-up call to come out!
Task of the weekend: Bring the inner super hero out! (even if that means going to a toy store and trying out spider-man masks…it does actually help!)/

Κάποιες μέρες ξυπνάς και αισθάνεσαι πως ο μόνος τρόπος να βγει η μέρα είναι αν έχεις σούπερ-δυνάμεις όπως οι υπερήρωες. Αυτό που κάνω σε τέτοιες μέρες είναι ότι βασικά συμπεριφέρομαι σαν υπερήρωας. Τι εννοώ; Σκέφτομαι θετικά, πιστεύω πως τα πάντα είναι δυνατά και χαμογελάω. Το θέμα είναι πως ακόμα και οι υπερήρωες είναι άνθρωποι…με αδυναμίες και συναισθήματα. Έτσι λοιπόν αν το σκεφτείς το μόνο που πρέπει να κάνεις είναι να ανακαλύψεις τον υπερήρωα μέσα σου! Είμαι πολύ σίγουρη πως κοιμάται κάπου εκεί μέσα σου και περιμένει αυτό το σκούντημα για να βγει έξω!
Αποστολή για το σαββατοκύριακο: Βγάλε τον υπερήρωα από μέσα σου! (ακόμα και αν αυτό σημαίνει να πας σε ένα παιχνιδάδικο και να δοκιμάσεις τη μάσκα του spider-man…βοηθάει στα αλήθεια!

Friends and friendly faces stopped by to say hello! I was tired, almost exhausted from the last couple days but I was also very happy that all those people bothered to stop by just to see the exhibition. It was really weird and fun to hear people commenting on my room without knowing that I was in the room! I was also very happy to meet “my inbox” person (remember this post?)! Leaving Taf yesterday I had a bittersweet taste in my heart. May be it was all the exhitement and tiredness, may be it was the things that I had in my mind…Anyway I would like to thank you all for coming. It really means the world. /
Χθες ήταν τα εγκαίνια του Blog Diaries στο Taf. Φίλοι και φιλικά πρόσωπα πέρασαν να πουν ένα γεια! Ήμουν πτώμα, σχεδόν στα πατώματα από την κούραση των τελευταίων ημερών αλλά και πολύ χαρούμενη που όλοι εσείς ήρθατε στην έκθεση. Ήταν επίσης αρκετά παράξενο να είμαι στο δωμάτιο μου και να ακούω σχόλια για το δωμάτιο χωρίς να ξέρουν πως είμαι εγώ που το έχω φτιάξει! Χάρηκα επίσης πολύ που επιτέλους γνώρισα το “inbox” μου (θυμάστε αυτό το ποστ ;) !
Φεύγοντας από το Taf χθες είχα μια γλυκόπικρη γεύση στην καρδιά μου. Μπορεί να ήταν από την ένταση, τη χαρά και την κούραση ή από αυτά που είχα στο μυαλό μου…Όπως και να έχει σας ευχαριστώ όλους που ήρθατε. Αλήθεια ήταν πολύ σημαντικό για εμένα.
