  1. indian summer…

    October 5, 2011 by thalia

The title of this post is probably irrelevant to the content of the post, but really who cares? Yesterday I was wearing a jacket that I own since I was about 10 years old! How does it still fit me? Well lets just say that the sleeves are a bit shorter. I also wore my favorite H&M cardigan (I love the fact that the back is c-though) and H&M mocassins. I think that uncosiously the mocassins were the reason that I named the post indian summer. I also did a flickr search for indian summer and I found those lovely images that reminded me that at some point I wanted to make a feather head band. May be I should get on with it…

Some photos that have been forgotten in the camera and a song that I just can’t stop listening. Have a lovely weekend.

  3. panorama…

    July 26, 2011 by thalia

According to wikipedia, a panorama (formed from Greek πᾶν “all” + ὅραμα “sight”) is any wide-angle view or representation of a physical space, whether in paintingdrawingphotographyfilm/video, or a three-dimensional model.

I took some panoramic photos with photosynth, an i-phone app and I wanted to do a bit of a research before posting them. So what is the best place to do that? Wikepedia! Therefore this post is basically bits and bobs from wikepedia and my own random photosynth photos!

Panoramic photography soon came to displace painting as the most common method for creating wide views. Not long after the introduction of the Daguerreotype in 1839, photographers began assembling multiple images of a view into a single wide image. In the late 19th century, panoramic cameras using curved film holders employed clockwork drives to scan a line image in an arc to create an image over almost 180 degrees. Digital photography of the late twentieth century greatly simplified this assembly process, which is now known as image stitching.

A πᾶν “all” + ὅραμα “sight” or panoramic view is also proposed for multi-media, cross-scale applications to outline overview (from a distance) along and across repositories. This so called a cognitive panorama is a panoramic view over and a combination of cognitive spaces.

What I discovered while using photosynth is that you can actually go crazy and be very creative! That means that you can create a panorama from different elements. So you can take a photo from your living room, from your kitchen or what you have it and create a hybrid space!

I still haven’t managed to use it properly but I am getting there. The above photos were taken in Paris, in my livingroom and in Loutraki and they are my first attempts so be nice!

  4. the sartorialist…

    June 1, 2011 by thalia

is the man behind the camera. I ve been reading his blog before I even thought about starting mine and that was around 2006. I think he is one of these person’s that has a sense of bussiness, street-style and fashion. I mean how couldn’t he? He worked in marketing for high-end designer’s like Valentino and at the same time he loved photography and seeing those high-end clothes being worn in every-day life. The Sartorialist was born. The last two years he is considered one of the most influencial people in the fashion industry and his photographs have travelled all over the world, not only via his blog but also through his book.

So you are probably wondering why I am posting about The Sartorialist now. Well I saw this video by Intel Visual Life and I had to share. I love the fact that it gives you an inside on how he actually perceives what he does, and how he does it. The music and the direction of the video also really put you in the mood to grab your camera and just start taking pictures of strangers. Hope you enjoy this video as much as I did.
